I thank God for all He has done for me

Since the summer of my 6th grade year, I have been on six youth trips with this church. Every single one of those trips changed my life, and I know I would not be where I am if I did not go on them. Four of those trips were service trips, where we served the community where we stayed. Each place, Bayou La Batre, AL, Newport, TN, Talladega, AL, and San Ramon, Costa Rica, offered a new and exciting lesson that I could use to serve people in my own community. In three of those places, I helped with children’s ministries in the area.

Working with children in poor areas, and in San Ramon’s slums, showed me how people in the hardest places in the world can have faith that only God could understand. I was amazed at the people who prayed with us and worshiped even though they barely have enough to feed their families. I especially enjoyed when in Newport, a man who lived across the street from where my group worked came to our community party at the end of the week, and received his first Bible and received Jesus for the first time. It was a great feeling to see that our work in the town brought this man to Christ and to live for Him.
This year, I am going to Marvell, Arkansas. It is a small town with only about 1,000 people who live there. I cannot wait to go and be with the kids and probably paint a house. I thank God that I am able and that He is allowing me go to these places so that I can be a light for Christ to some of these people. Giving to people has strengthened my faith, and I thank God for all he has done for me.
