HCM
( 7 items )
In this seven week series we look at what it means to be a healthy member of the church. What are some fundamental things that God would want us to do as members of His body at Indian River Presbyterian? These topics are all ones that we have covered in the past and will continue to cover in the future. But they are compiled in one section to highlight God’s desire for us. I want us to look at this series right now since we are preparing as a church for our next step of numerical growth. In order to take that next step we must go back to the core of what it means to be members in church so that we can reignite our church DNA.

Unlocking the Old Testament
( 53 items )
“All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness” 2 Timothy 3:16 There is a frequent perception among Christians that the Old Testament is less relevant than the New Testament. For example, people say, “God was harsher back then than He was in the time of Jesus.” People often find the practices in the Old Testament confusing. Because of these concerns over the Old Testament, many Christians will often leave the Old Testament alone except for the few well-known stories. God, however, would desire that we would be able to understand His word in the Old Testament just as much as we understand His word in the New Testament. As Paul said to Timothy, the whole bible comes from God and all of it is useful in so many ways.
In the Old Testament series you will..... • Meet God in the texts of the Old Testament and see how applicable the words of Scripture are to your life. • Have a greater understanding of the major themes of the Old Testament and how they are consistent with the New Testament. • Have the ability to read and study passages of the Old Testament and be able to apply them to your life. • Have a greater understanding of the overall historical events of the Old Testament and therefore know the context of the various passages.
In this series, we spend at least one week on each book of the Old Testament and study a passage that is indicative of the book’s overall theme.
