History
Indian River Presbyterian Church had it’s first meeting on May 14th 1961 in the Fort Pierce Hotel. There were 10 adults and 10 children. Our meeting place then moved to the McArthur Dairy Building on Orange Avenue.
1964
After meeting for some time in the McArthur Dairy Building, the church broke ground on it’s current location in 1964, and on July 26th of the same year had their first meeting in the Sample Chapel, now Sample Hall. The church continued to grow for many years, and had many pastors and clergy who aided in the beginning of the church’s life.
1982
In December of 1982, the church began a tradition which it is still known for today, The Outdoor Living Nativity. Every year (except for 1996) , the church has shared this event with thousands of members of the community, and the church has gained many more members.
1984
In April of 1984, Indian River broke ground on it’s current sanctuary and facilities to cope with the growth.
TODAY
Since 1984 we have grown into a vibrant community of around 600 members. Today, the church has three service with hundreds of people in attendance every week. There is community that exists both inside and outside of the church, and many other services and ministries outside of the normal Sunday worship. Our Mission is now simple in statement, ”Love God, Love Others, Make Disciples”.
